Conservative Therapy:
- Physical therapy and occupational therapy
- Psychological evaluation and management (e.g. biofeedback, coping mechanisms)
- Use of noninvasive therapy (e.g. ice, heat, TENS, thermography)
- Acupuncture
Medication Management:
- Decrease patient’s use of narcotics
- Improve patient’s ability to return to normal function and to return to work
- Narcotic management of cancer and non-malignant pain
Minor Invasive Procedures:
- Trigger point injections
- Peripheral nerve blocks
- Diagnostic procedures to determine the etiology of pain
Moderately Invasive Procedures:
- Epidural nerve blocks
- Stellate, ganglion, lumbar sympathetic, celiac plexus, hypogastric and impar ganglion block
- Differential nerve blocks
- Facet joint injections
- Botulinum toxin injections
- Isolated nerve root blocks
Major Invasive Procedures:
- Radio-frequency ablation therapy
- Neurolytic procedures
- Referral to surgeons for placement of dorsal (spinal) column stimulators and generator placement of intrathecal catheters and implantable pumps for infusion
- Reprogramming of dorsal column stimulators
